Can the Slate ML2 microphone really give you the sound of 18 world famous microphones?

In this video I sound test the Slate digital ML2 microphone on acoustic guitar and test out the models in the virtual mix rack.
It’s selling for $150 in the US and £140 in the UK

This small diaphragm condenser microphone is very impressive and the audio tests speak for the quality of the components and algorithms behind the modelling.

I tested it with the brand new Audient iD44 using Class-A Audient Console Mic Preamplifiers and world leading AD/DA converters.
Although it is not tested with the VMS One preamp, this still provided an excellent clean signal for the modelling.

I also test it against the Sontronics STC 1 Microphone, a more affordable British microphone with more features.

My personal favourites are the 451, the U67 and the Eletro Voice RE 20.

These links are the cheapest prices I can find. If you order using them, I will get a small commission to help fund new equipment for the channel 🙂 Thank you
